Enigma vs. Sub-Belt | Enigma Evolution - How It Started
Просмотров 4 тыс.28 дней назад
We have noticed a resurgence of the use of sub-belts in the concealed carry community. Sub-belts would be considered a typical belt, but being used under the pants in conjunction with a holster. In light of this Jon shares how sub-belts played a role in the process of designing what we now know as the Enigma, and why the design didn't stop at attaching a holster to a belt and putting it under c...

Great Information
Great Information
this video is FANTASTIC !!!!
I wear scrubs 4 days a week. Safe bet that no one is assuming I'm carrying a gun.
One REALLY BIG REASON is that it looks like some kinky sexual strap-on garment. 😮
Check your state laws for the legality of it. Most people don't even notice when someone is carrying open, they are busy looking down at their phones and not what is going on around them. The majority of Americans have ZERO situational awareness of their surroundings.
Of course. But “most people” aren’t the reason we carry a gun in the first place.
Great video Sarah. Well thought out and presented. The candid way you and Jon present is refreshing. Thank you.
Can you please do a video how to install soft loops i took mine apart i dont like the DCC mod 4 clips and now i cant put it back
Skip to 54 seconds ruclips.net/video/50KyxEmbZhA/видео.html
@@PHLster sucks I tried putting it back and the loops keep unscrewing even when I tighten them up pretty good I like the holster these last 3 days I've had it but I'm kinda iffy now about it
@@big4ktYou can always email us at info@phlsterholsters.com and include some pictures of the gear in its current state, and we can walk you through it, no problem.
@@PHLster i will right now
@@PHLster I think what it is , is that I only have 1 screw post that is slightly larger that works because the other one post doesn't let me screw it in so than I used the rest of the 4 smaller screw post that come with it + a rubber spacer so basically the small screw post sits evenly with the rubber spacer not slightly sticking out like the slightly larger screw post
How to say “Stop dressing like a gun guy” without saying “stop dressing like a gun guy”
Love your video 😊 please make more 🙏
The Enigma does not support a full size 1911
With a compatible holster, you can carry that pistol with the Enigma OS. Or with an x300 or TLR 1, it can be carried in the Light Bearing Enigma Express.
I am so grateful and excited to get this holster!! I have been struggling for months with conceal carry and I found you merely by ACCIDENT! I was watching another gal who was telling me about leg holsters, corsets, and flexible belly bands....ALL of which seem very unsafe....AND you confirmed ARE unsafe. THANK YOU!! :)
So what belt do you use?
This selection process should be a flowchart or quiz on the website, although these videos are helpful as well.
Does this ship in a discreet box?

Love me some Phlster 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Will the DCC Mod 4 fit a Montana Hanks Bison Belt? It is super thick, also what about the "wing" will still help reduce the printing?
You’re almost certainly going to have a lot more success with a more flexible belt. 90% of people, in our experience, get way better comfort and concealment with a belt which is capable of conforming to their body. Extremely stiff belts often create gaps between the belt and the body and allow the holster to just hang in the gap and pull away from the body, instead of causing the pistol and holster to conform to the body.
I really like the sheep skin idea for moisture control. I’m going to look into that. I perspire a lot when I hike and it gets very uncomfortable! Thank you for the advice!
Well done.
I understand the desire to carry subcompact pistols but to avoid this completely just carry a fullsized handgun
Or use a gun with a longer bbl, like a full size service auto. That is one of the benefits of appendix carry. Or just tote strong side IWB/OWB where the "keel principle" is not so applicable.
It’s just as applicable, if not more so, strong side. One of the reasons that belts for OWB carry need to be stiff enough that they cause other ergonomic problems is to prevent top heavy pistols from tipping out away from the body. And canting the pistol enough for 4:00 carry also reduces the amount of muzzle below the belt line. Strong side holsters often attempt to offset these issues by making the holsters wider, and that isn’t always conducive to concealment and ergonomics.
I used to wear a holster with a belt. It was a black 2 in tactical nylon belt. Carrying a 32 ACP. Anything bigger such as a Glock 43 was pushing it. I can carry a Glock 19 inside a phlster holster system enigma whatever you call it and it's easier than carrying a Glock 43 with a belt under my pants. Just bite the bullet and buy the phlster! They have top notch customer service too. My plates kept on bending but they hooked me up with the prefabricated model the Express I think. All you need is this and maybe a milk sparks for your days off and you're golden. If I could only have one holster it would be the phlster. I wished they had g30 and p99c models.
Do you guys have any plans to add any other gun makes/models for your Pro holsters? Pretty slim options at the moment…. Looking for Hellcat Pro holster that can support either a DCC monoblock or two separate DCC HLR gear clips (without needing to index on a light).
My rig is a full size in a Dark Star holster that accepts WML. The bottom edge isn’t super sharp but it spends so much time digging into my thigh, I found that applying some electrical tape around the bottom of the holster helps.
Noted
The wing makes it work in my case.
#6 lol me have cargo space for any.
That’s great! I have been wondering if I needed a wedge or not
Any time I've seen a holster with a snow shoe backer I've thought "Who is this for?". That can't fit most people comfortably and concealably. Atleast not long term. That and they look unnecessarily large.
I just got my Vedder Holster in the mail and I got all the bells and whistles like the wedge and claw. The claw works great. The wedge also does its job by pushing the butt and grip of the gun into my stomach. Although, I’m not that big of a guy so I found that the wedge wasn’t necessary. It also makes the holster feel really bulky and uncomfortable and I’m a small dude. I can’t imagine how uncomfortable the wedge would be if I had a bit bigger of a belly.
That would depend on the size, shape, and material of the wedge, and also exactly where the gun is placed on the body. Most of the time, when a wedge is uncomfortable, it’s because of one of those factors.
Helpful. Thanks!
Do you think Great Stuff Foam in a sealed bag could produce a perfect wedge? Hold it where you want while it cures then trim the parts you don't need?
I’m pretty sure it’s not good for prolonged skin contact. Who knows how it might break down from sweat and give you a gnarly rash.
@@PHLster that's a good point. Great Stuff probably causes cancer if you use it in California too. What I was thinking of was a certain packing material I've seen for putting irregular shaped items into square boxes. There's basically a large bag on bottom and top of the item and the foam expands in the bags to consume all space. The foam doesn't actually touch the box or items. But if you trim the excess to use with a holster, you would be cutting through that bag so unless you also then plasti-dipped the foam or something that foam would be touching your skin and it would be abrasive probably, too. Was just thinking if there was a way for each person to create a wedge that fills their voids exactly. Some yoga mat Material could be sanded into shape probably but you can't un-sand if you go too far.
Possibly, as long as the bag is sealed well, it should form a roughly closed cell polyurethane foam, which isn't that bad. I wouldn't want it directly against my skin even once it's cured. They actually make custom racecar seats using a very similar substance and technique. The biggest issue would be that the wedge needs to actually be bigger than your void in order to create pressure. Maybe you could get around this by molding it without the holster in place?
One of the classes I didn't get to make it to during TacCon due to schedule conflict. Thank you for posting this and for all you do!
Fantastic. Well done.
At risk of sounding inappropriate would a long wet white T-shirt help people find their valleys and peaks? Where are contacts the skin it should be much darker right? Maybe use a cheap shirt and trace the lines in sharpie.
This video will explain how you can use clothing drape to determine where your peaks and valleys are: ruclips.net/video/83kIWpohBcw/видео.html One shouldn't have to wet their shirt in order to use clothing drape to determine peaks and valleys.
Bless you for putting out this fabulous info for free.

Which belt did you display in the video?
Genuinely informative video without trying to sell me anything. Respect. Thank you
Really good advice about the 365XL
Holy moly. I feel like Dwight when he thinks Jim is moving the coat rack with his mind.
What does the wedge to?
We have a bunch of other videos about exactly that!
It basically pushes the gun into your body, preventing it from printing out.
It makes it look like you have a raging hard on
Carry both. For me personally, i see little difference with the 2. Maybe my body, holster. Don't know. I appendix both.
This is a great idea. Thank you!
